In the Vocal Music department students gain knowledge about proper vocal and sound production for singing, for both choral and solo music.  Students study basic music foundations and fundamentals to aid in their musical understandings. Vocal Department choirs perform in their own concerts twice a year, as well as in the all-school productions in the winter and spring.  Our choirs have also traveled and performed at the Bronx Borough Arts Festival, NYSSMA Festivals, and High Notes Music Festivals at Lake Compounce CT.   We attend invited dress rehearsals at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as other concerts and Broadway shows. Students sing alongside their classmates and students from other cohorts in Mixed, Treble, and Men’s Choirs. Solo opportunities are always available.  In their Senior year students sit for the Arts Exit Exam (Music) to receive the Chancellor’s Arts Endorsement on their diploma.

Some of the subjects and skills we learn about (but not limited to):

- Sight-reading and Sight-Singing
